Cory's Shearwater

Calonectris borealis

It is one of the most emblematic and common shearwater's in Portugal. These seabirds display a yellow beak, dorsal brownish plumage, white underwings with embroidered brown edges and a characteristic curved wing flight, making them easily recognizable. Cory's shearwaters are frequent along the Portuguese mainland coast, with migrating peaks between August and November and from February to March, being rarely seen during winter.
